I don't think so. People that are uninterested in politics tend to be people with lower IQs and therefore usually don't bother to vote. People with higher IQs also tend to be involved in political organizations, for good or for bad, that try to influence policy. I think our elected government hinges on the edge of ineffectiveness. Only public outcry really ever gets things done - this is why we are polarized and every couple of election cycles the power swings back the the other party. What would really be effective would be a moderate third party.

Is this an ignorant question as a uneducated person with skills passed down from his father or mentor that can brick lay ,wood carve, build anything with there hands as there is no one that is with some sort of skill .IQ is a western way of grading people .While you die in the outback desert an aboriginal will survive !who's smarter than who?.Try asking a old american indian man to teach you about tracking , the stars or listen to the animals that can tell you when someone is approaching and your ignorance has destroyed both these people with alcohol and spiking there blankets with disease .I do not support a nation that uses germ warfare on people even if it was a couple of hundred years ago .Sadistic uneducated people use germ warfare and antiplant weapons . In todays australia people are valued unlike other country's and other country's cruelty towards there people is not welcome in my backyard.I want the australian way of life not american (ruled by the Gun)way of life and all american movies are about killing as in australia people celebrate life ?.People who vote or familys who vote?

What sense does that make. It doesn't matter what your IQ is. Some people are still going to vote how they wanna vote. Maybe you should ask that the ballads not be secret and the people who voted for Bush should never have the legal right to vote again!!!

Having a high IQ doesn't mean that the person would be more interested in politics, further it would result in government that didn't represent the people.

No!!!
Only people above a certain should be able to run for office. Unlike the "C" average cheerleader we currently have in the white house.

Somewhat unrelated, but here in Canada, I too am frustrated with the way my fellow citizens vote. (Although I was pleased with the Conservative minority last January, I was disappointed it wasn't larger, and that my own district re-elected our Liberal Member of Parliament.) But rather than attribute it to a downfall in terms of intelligence, I feel apathy is partially responsible, at least at the local level. We have had 5 elections since 2003 between the three levels of government, and over that time, I felt I was more qualified to vote than some of those who did, because even though I was underage, I had paid attention and came to my own conclusion. Whoo. Sorry for the long rant; just thought you might find it interesting.
