my cousin used my pc and i think she disabled my pc security for some downloads.. and now my pc have been infested by spywares, adwares.. not to mention, trojan..

my pc is such a pain in the a** for functioning too slow.. i tried to download adaware, spysweeper and alike but it didnt help.. maybe it helped by blocking new cookies to come in but cant actually remove what has already been in the system..

if i'll buy norton or other anti-virus software, would it solve the problem?

or is it a good idea to reformat my pc.. but i dont know how to do it.. can someone teach me? is it easy to learn? im just worried that vital files/programs would be lost if i didnt do it right..

You are correct that you will lose your programs and files. You can backup your personal files such as pictues, spreadsheets, Word documents, and even you Outlook inbox. The problem is that you cannot backup your programs. The programs will need to be installed again. Hopefully you have a restore CD that came from the manufacturer of the pc. If you do, then just boot with the CD in and follow the directions after you have backed up your personal files to cd or another removable storage. If you don't have the cd or the pc is cutom built, then you really need to take it too a local pc guy. Please use somebody local and not one of the big names such as Geeksquad. The local guy will be cheaper and from what I have seen in the past, the big names are just people who really don't care.

Good luck!

dont worry, it's not that hard. I hope you have the windows installation cd, keep it by your side.

at first turn on your computer and as a precaution scan your whole computer by your anti-virus (updated). delete whatever virus u get. I know it wont work to make your computer fine as it was, but still u should do it.

now insert the windows cd and restart your computer.

oops, move your important files from c drive (my documents, my pictures or anything).

restart the computer and read every instructions patiently, (dont get scared of the blue screen)

install the windows (not repair) in c drive, and command to format your c partition as a ntsc.

now just wait.

one thing u can do, that make a list of what programs you had on your computer (important ones). and if possible keep their setup files or cd's ready.

Good Luck, if you want further information feel free to email me.

If data on your hard disk is corrupted it is advisable to format the hard disk and reinstall the operating system (usually Windows XP). If a new hard disk is used, you may prefer to partition the hard disk into 2 or more drive. The operating system is installed on the first drive and a backup of the data is stored on the second drive More details at http://fixit.in/format.html

anti virus software slows computer down
i reccommend
a) backing up files and reformating
or
b) just removing all unecessary programs and only running the sbc spyware
allso go to
control panel
and clean disk under performance and maintence this will help tremendously!

ms windows is soooo sloppy with the program reg. it took me over 4 hours to get rid of all the references to just only addware program on a clients pc a few weeks ago

i highly recommend a reformat / clean install or if you can handle it (you sound like your fairly savy) switch off of windows to
http://www.kubuntu.org/ (free as in no $$)
http://www.xandros.com/ (much less PITA)

with linux, next to no adware / malware and no viruses!

I would suggest you to format the drive.. as it is easier to do... but beware that you will loose the data in the particular drive.. so it is better to backup the important data before you format... you may have to reinstall the operating system too...

ask any of the service guy to do the formatting.. if u r not comfortable... its very easy though....

Try Downloading avg or avast antivirus programs. they are both free and better than norton. but dont download them both as 2 antivirus programs will cancel each other out.

for anti-spyware try lavasoft adaware, spybot, avg anti-spyware, spyware blaster and windows defender(from Microsoft). You can have as many antispyware programs as you want
