by James Cross Giblin, Bagram Ibatoulline (Illustrator) (This one is one of my favorites).

Pyramid by David Macaulay is a good book for looking and studying at pictures, but the text is a little dense.

It's not non-fiction but it'd be great to get them hooked - Tut, Tut by John Sciezka and Lane Smith. It's one of the Time Warp Trio books, and it was my favorite book when I was little. Oh, I think it's about one of the Thutmoses, though, not King Tut.

My ten-3 hundred and sixty 5 days-previous son loves the non-fiction 'terrible heritage' books via Terry Deary, which focus on the grotesque and frightening areas of heritage, as in 'The Rotten Romans' 'the vicious Vikings' 'the poor Tudors' the 'Vile Victorian's and so on.
