When I was pregnant with my son they told me that they would not be able to find out what I was having until I was 5 months along. But your doctor maybe able to find out what you are having by doing a blood test or thru a ultrasound. It all depends on your doctor. Hope that this helps. Congrats on the baby!

The sexual organs aren't defined enough for even a Dr viewing it in real life to be sure what the sex is at 12 weeks. Boys and Girl babies both look very very much alike until 14 weeks or so when the penis becomes more obvious and the "seam" closes up in the testicles. The earliest you would be able to see and be relatively sure, would be 17-19 weeks. If you could have it at 22-24 weeks then it would be even better. Sometimes it's just hard to tell. The baby has to cooperate too- they have to have their legs open just right and you need a clear view to see. It was easy to see with all of mine, but I know people who were told it was "for sure" a girl or boy and had the opposite.

Usually around 20 weeks they can tell the sex of the baby. People tend to find out (if they want to) at their 20 week scan.
I had a scan at 13 weeks though and the Obstetrician could see it was a boy! It depends on how well developed the baby is and what position he/she is lying in and also a lot of it is down to the skill of the sonographer.

Firstly, congratulations on the baby. By going for a e3 month scan they will be able to see that the baby is OK and do what is known as a dating scan. Generally Sonographers will not be able to see the sex of a baby until they do the scan at 5 months. This one means that the baby is a lot clearer to them on the screen and they will be able to see things a lot more.

At this point, the baby's sex would just barely be visable, so you probably wouldn't be able to tell (although it is slightly possible). Having an ultrasound at 18-20 wks is a much better time, and the baby will be alot bigger and more developed. They can tell you then with high accuracy what the sex is. I just found out today I'm having a boy, and it was very obvious that that's what it was. Yay!

The sex organs do not form until sometime in the 4th month of pregnancy. They will not show up very well on an ultrasound until at least the 20th week or 5 month, which is why most doctor's if pressured by insurance companies to only perform one ultrasound will wait until the 20th week. By then the sex organs can be visible, but might not be seen on ultrasound due to factors as simple as the position of the baby. Good luck! Try to be patient...

I had a private nuchal scan at 12 weeks and the consultant said he could have told me the sex with 90% accuracy, but a NHS scan would probably tell you to wait until 20 weeks because they don't want to spend the time looking.

Bit early 3 months and if it shows it may not be correct, after five you can be almost sure.
But really does it matter?? All you want is a healthy baby. I always thought knowng before hand it was a bit like opening your Christmas Christmas present in June!!!!!! One of the best if not the best moments in my life was when I first saw both my sons and looking to see what sex I had been blessed with.

Not at this scan. The 12 week scan is normally just a dating scan and quick progress check. You can ask the sex (hospital policy depending) at your 20 week anomaly scan but it all depends on how baby is lying.
Good luck with the preganancy

I don't think as early as that no, in some places (like London UK) they don't tell you at all, because there is such a huge multi-national population in London, and some of the ethnic cultures that live here do not want baby girls, they found the abortion rate for baby girls grew very high, so they stopped telling people, now if you wanna know you have to pay to go private.
