"Scarlett" The Sequel to Margaret Mitchell's "Gone With the Wind"

I am doing this book in school or anything. I am just curious about the sequel to one of my all time favourite movies/books.

I wouldn't be so curious. The sequel is in most people's opinion quite awful. Of course you don't have to take my word for it. Read it and see for yourself. But the characters are not the same as with the original. But I will tell you what I can. Mammy dies. Scarlett goes to the funeral. Rhett goes to Charleston. Scarlett goes to Atlanta and becomes a complete drunken wreck. Scarlett decides to go to Charleston and chase Rhett. Rhett ignores Scarlett's attempt for a reconciliation. They go to parties together to keep people from talking but it's clear he hates her. Through chance, a boating expedition accident leads to a drunken night of passion between Scarlett and Rhett. For some reason or other I can't remember if he leaves town or she does...but she ends up visiting and staying with some of her father's family. She decides to go to Ireland. In Ireland she finds out she's pregnant. She buys/acquires land or property. Sets herself up nicely. Likes being independent. Has a baby and actually pays attention to it. Has a few scumbag men pay attention to her. Has at least one affair. Maybe more. Meanwhile Rhett has married someone else. She's a wishy-washy goody two shoes like Melanie. His mother approves of his choice. She dies. He ends up in Ireland and through chance of course he ends up finding Scarlett and learning that he has a daughter. Anyway, they end up together after a whole bunch of nonsense. Oh I forgot the part where Scarlett unknowingly takes part in an Irish rebellion. Her relatives or tenants or both store secret weapons and are planning a rebellion of some sort. Anyway, it's just very silly and stupid. Somewhere in there Ashley proposes at least once and she rejects him.

Oh ye gods. Do yourself and Scarlett a favor and do NOT read this book. First, it's not written by Mitchell. An author was "selected" by Mitchell's heirs to write this - one assumes to suck more money out of the public. Second, it devolves into complete and utter nonsense and could have been written by any of the romance novelists. The writing and plot have little connection to the Scarlett and Rhett and others you know and love.
