All the scandals involving South Africa's political figures. It seemed like a soap opera some times.
The worst one was a high ranking official claiming he "took a shower after sex to lower the risk of AIDS."
What an absolute joke!
Also, being a sports fan, I really enjoyed the media coverage given to what had to be the most unbelievable game of one day international cricket ever.
It was between South Africa and Australia. The Aussies batted first and put on a world record score and all hope for a South African victory vanished. But then, through awesome determination and passion, South Africa somehow managed to reach the target and pull off one of the most unlikely victories in the history of the game.

The somewhat less than accurate rumour about the UN planning to outlaw small arms sales in the US.
The media covered the rumour, at which time John Bolton stepped up and said essentially "They're not doing that. And they never could even if they tried."
Which I guess covered all our bases, vindicated and mocked the UN at the same time. Delicious.
