I swear to god, if i hear another person tell me "rap sucks all it talk about is money and b&tches" i am gonna hurl. Its because of talentless clowns like 50 Cent and Chingy giving it a terrible name that everyones thinking its some sort of a joke. And thats BULLSH!T!!!!! rap was an amazing genre up to the the late ninties. Everyone had something worthwhile to talk about, it wasn't "look at me" crap. People need to do research before jumping to such ridiculous conclusions. There is plenty of terrible rock music, but no one's saying rock sucks because of it. Why have a dig at rap??

Believe me, I feel you on that one. It seems some people are more comfortable making shallow generalizations than actually taking the time to look beyond what they see and hear in the mainstream. But I do understand why people come up with that kind of conclusion about rap/hip hop. The only kind of rap a lot of people are exposed to is the mostly negative and stereotypical mainstream rap that's force fed to us on a daily basis. Unfortunately, A lot of the real emcees have been put on the backburner or are stuck in the underground circuit. Why? Because for the most part, greedy record companies and good ol' Corporate America have conditioned the masses and flooded the market with whatever "trend du jour" makes them the most money as opposed to actual talent, variety and substance. That's what the real problem is.

It would be cool if some of the old-school artists would come out of retirement in force like the Justice League or the Superfriends and take back hip hop - lol. But I know it'll never happen. For now, we just have to wait for the virtual pendulum to swing in the other direction. All I can say is it's a good thing I was introduced to underground hip hop a some years back. Otherwise, I'd still be sittin' here with Midnight Marauders on repeat, reminiscing about the good ol' days.

I feel you bra, everybody just like the guy who posted a couple post above me judges the whole gener based on a couple songs they heard and whats worse is that they all start slamming rap cause of that, which shows how ignorant and retarted they are. Todays rap does suck but that aint a reason to slam the whole gener including the good rap.

I hear it every day and its always racist, sexist and advocates violence. I'm not sure what you think the up side of all that is.
As for terrible rock, I don't hear it blasting at 5000w out of low rider cars day and night, so probably few people know about it.
