A lovely topic though you will have to work hard for it is that if you can define a methodology by which one can enter and exit any fund just like a stock. Example a crossover of 9 and 18 day moving average on any NAV fund value would give you the entry and exit signal. Try and develop such a project. It would amount to entering a fund twice and exit twice a year on weekly parameters. Best of luck. ( Normally everyone takes an easy project, but take an unconventional one, remember poem of robert frost..)

This has probably been done many times before, but nevertheless it does make an interesting project. Radomly select 20 portfolios of 20 stocks each and compare their historical returns against the returns of 20 radomly selected stock mutual funds. Are the returns radomly corrolated or did one perform better than the other.

- Financial Planning with Mutual Funds
- Load funds vs No Load funds and Why?
- Equity Fund sales
- Debt Fund sales
- Closed end funds and Open end funds from brokerage house
- How to convince potential customers on the right set of funds
- Process for setting up fund trading (short term)
- Process for Monthly and Annual statement creation for clients, with tax calculations of average purchases and sales (if they bought a fund many times and sold it in multiple lots)
- How many types of funds should the Broking House do?
- What do you charge clients for doing Mutual Fund business?
- Rules, Regulations, Compliance requirements, Reporting requirements to SEC/SEBI
- Funds in various currencies (I'm getting carried away)

This should give you some ideas!

Do Mutual funds really lower the risk factor.
You can begin by highlighting the Unique selling points of MF's and contradict them.
The USP of Mutual funds : Allow others to invest your money because you do not know the markets that well.
