why do some people see citizen from new olreans are basically ghetto, poor , low class black people. as a citizen of new orleans it upsetted me that people think that i'm ghetto and poor and live in a lower class neighbor. has the media placed such a picture about the city and the time that forever certain people will be seen as a certain way. i left new orelans two years before katrina happen but grew up there all my life and still hav a "accent" and i recently didn't get a job because the employer felt i wasn't what i said i was. i grew up in a great neighbor and even went to private school so why is it that the city i'm from depicts me as a false person.

The same reason a lot of people think that everyone in Tn is barefoot and ignorant. Most people are just stupid. Live your life the best you can and don't pay attention to them. If you let them people will drive you crazy. I love humankind but I often can't stand people.

Colorado just had the worst blizzard in over a generation. Hundreds were trapped in sub zero weather in their cars. Thousands were without electricity. Did the Rev Jesse Jackson show up? Did President Bush? Were TV cameras everywhere recording deaths and misery. No. Here's why? They got busy and helped one another. In the blinding snow they dug strangers out of snowdrifts. They worked tirelessly without complaining. Two years after Katrina, the victims are still parked in Houston whining because FEMA might cut them off. When given job tips and free bus transporation to seek those jobs, did they take advantage of it. No... they did not. Initially, hearts went out to Katrina victims... but their attitudes, once exposed, has given all NO residents a black eye. I'm sorry you were rejected for a job you were probably very qualified for. But Katrina has left a bad taste in people's mouth. And by the way, your accent is lovely. Be proud of it.

The only people left when the hurricane hit were poor people who can't afford a car. Since there were enough such people to fill a professional football stadium, plus a convention center, how can one not believe that that town was full of ghettoish, low class people? No one with any brains would live in a hurricane- prone craphole six feet below sea level and not own a functioning car.

I don't know anything about New Orlean residents but what I saw on the news about it was that a lot of people think that Bush didn't do enough or as fast as he would've had it been a predominately white area. But I personally don't look down on anyone or where they grew up. I'm no better than anyone else
