i sort of think that blind people have dreams, but what do they dream about if they don't know what anything looks like? just how they imagine things to look like or how they're described or do you think there is some kind of instinct to know what the world looks like even if you can't see it? sorry if this question doesn't make much sense.

Oooooooooo good question. Of course blind people dream. And if they were born with vision but later went blind, then they probably dream pictures. I'd imagine a blind person would dream in feelings and smells and sounds. I just can't imagine how that would be though.

They say that a person who has been blind since birth, and then has their vision restored through surgery, simply can't make sense of the new messages their brain is getting. They frequently run into things, unable to navigate this 3D world, and they don't see a representation of a cube on paper as being a cube, they see it as a box with lines coming out of it.

Dreams are a product of imagination so really whatever a blind person has created in their mind as far as images.

For example, if they're next to a tree in their dream that tree will look like whatever they've gathered a tree to look like based on touch and what they've "read" or have been told.

The blind people who was never able to see don't dream about anything but darkness. However, if a blind person who were able to see before going blind dream about the way their life was. Helen Keller was never able to dream about anything and Ray Charles did see his life when he was a child before he went blind.

Can dream about almost everything except shapes or colours. Can dream about a sweet or harsh talk... about a soft or hard touch... about a particular smell, about taste and flavours of food etc. etc. Even the size and shape as evident by touch is within the realms of his dreams.

I would guess that it's similar to our dreams, only without the visual component. They can hear, touch and feel their environment in their dreams. Dreams are limited by reality and because a blind person lacks visual cues or the ability to see and recognize shapes/color... the visual component of their dreams is nonexistant.

Generally, people who are blind from birth do not have imagery in their dreams, but you'll have to read the source for a more thorough explanation.

Imagination has nothing to do with the sensory inputs.
So, whatever you could dream could be dreamed by a blind too.

It is written that dreams are come through a multitude of business.... that means dreams are based on experience...... and experience is come through the senses.....

Whatever a blind person has experienced, it is that which he shall dream......
