first you steal a shopping in cart and then you take your stuff somewhere they have some boxes and get in the box with all your stuff and try to stay warm. later when you feel rested you go to the salvation army where they can help you adjust to the situation. getting overthe denial and overwhelming sense of self hate is the worst. once you breakthe denial you learn to live on the street just fine. there is a lot to learn out therecan be dangerous but the glory days must be over for you so get over it. just push that cart and keep you nose clean. doesn't hurt to be a little paranoid out there. be careful. very careful. the next step down is pure hell.

Normally, it is left in the apartment for a period of time (fiteen days in California), during which you can obtain access to remove it by paying a reasonable storage charge. After that time, the landlord may dispose of it as he pleases.

Most landlords will sell it at auctions, or give it to the salvation army. I know because my husband's family lost everything that way when he was a child.
