I recently bought a cheap pair of Itech skates to learn how to skate. The ankles are killing me after 45 minutes of skating. I am 6'5 and nearly 300lbs. This is the only sport I have not played religiously. How long should it take to get used to this or should I get better skates. Does ITECH even make a credible skate?

It took me a while to get used to skating, it takes alot of time, its normal for your ankles to start hurting after 45 minutes, I suggest taking a break once every 10 or 15 minutes untill you start getting the hang of it

ps: ITECH skates arent the best, but they are still pretty reliable

Your ankles are going to hurt for a while until you are use to the skating and your skates are broken in. Use the most comfortable socks you can find that are thick to wear while you're going through the growing pains.

Your ankles will adjust in time try taking some white cloth tape and taping up the outside of your skate for added support until the muscles in your ankles and calves adjust

your feet will be quite sore starting out, the more you play, the less they hurt. what you can do is take hockey tape and wrap it around your ankles a few times for extra support, works for me. itechs are decent I use bauers they are great.

Skates in general will hurt a bit when you're first learing. While you're getting used to them, I'd use moleskin around your ankles, that might help. Other then that, Keep skating. You'll get used to it and your feet will develop calluses.

take your time and have fun it's all part of the game. Itech are OK for beginners but if there newer skates they will hurt a bit.

Get them molded at the pro shop in the rink. The time factor is a pain but it will help with better fit and support.
