I never seen any ads from youtube so i dont see how its possible.

I am referring to it before it was bought by google

Before they were bought, they likely survived off invested money, since advertisements didn't pay all their bills. Very few companies are profitable when they start. As such, they rely on seed money or invested money in order to run the company until they become profitable.

YouTube has yet to become profitable (except to its past owners, who probably made tons of money off the sale to Google.)

Google pays it for them, with no profit currently coming from the site itself.

Well, they received a good amount of capital from an investment company. They also sell advertising.
