am currently 16W 4D pregnant (I hope). I was hoping to get some insight on what has been going on lately.

On Dec 20 I was throwing up with morning sickness. I was straining hard and I looked down and there were 3 long brown clots on the ground. Went to ER and they did US. Baby was ok and measuring on schedule.
On Dec 24 there had been no signs of blood so DH and I started intercourse. I was nervous after the bleeding so looked down and there was a fair bit of red blood! Rushed tp ER and they couldnt fnd a HB. Xmas day we didnt know what was going on.
Boxing day we found a HB and scheduled US for the next day.
On Dec 27 we saw a healthy beautiful little girl!
I thought the bleeding was tapering off but since then I have had brown spotting daily (usually once a day around 4pm) It is not a lot, but it doesnt look like its stopping. The one day I didnt have spotting was yesterday when I spent the whole day in bed. There has been NO sex - too nervous.
Any ideas on whats going on?

Wanted to add that I haven't had any cramps, only lower back pain close to Xmas that seems to have disappeared.
Also, I have noticed that some bleeding seems to occur when I'm straining to go to the bathroom or be sick

Brown blood is old blood, not active bleeding. You mentioned bleeding when straining to go potty. Could it be that the blood is from a hemmorhoid rather than vaginal? If the ultrasound says you have a healthy baby, relax. I think you should take a stool softener, make sure you are healthy, you know, no smoking, eat well, take vitamins and rest when you can. Drink lots of water. Don't eliminate sex entirely but you can get creative to avoid causing any bleeding if it is vaginal. On your next doctor visit ask him to check your bottom as well as your baby. You might want to check www.babycenter.com for expert advice. Congrats

If it is just brown spotting, than that's just old blood working its way out. If it is bright red and enough to fill a pad, then you need to call the doctor right away, or go back to the ER. Sounds like everything is okay though, and it's understandable that you'd want to hold off on sex for now. If I were you I would wait a bit until all signs of spotting are gone. Definitely mention all this at your next doctors appointment. Good luck!!! Glad everything is still good (baby girls are awesome!)

Could be that you have placenta previa. This can cause bleeding especially during and after sex. Basically it is when the placenta, instead of being up nice and high out of the way in you uterus it is low and covering you cervix.
I had it with my second child and so long as you know about the condition it is managable. They can usually tell by a simple ultrasound. If you do have it you'll have to have baby by c-section.
Ask you doctor if this is possibly the problem.
Try not to stress to much but I understand how scary it is.
Good luck

I sure hope that everything is ok with your baby. I have heard about ppl that were carrying twins, and miscarried one and not the other. It is very rare, and I doubt that this would be whats happening to you. If you had no bleeding on the day you were in bed, make sure you mention that to your doctor, you may need to be on bed rest for a while. Congrats on the baby girl. Good Luck

I think you're going to be fine and also your precious little girl. My daughter had the same problem, bled almost the entire pregnancy, bedrest for weeks (you may be looking at some of that, but try to relax and enjoy the pampering, you'll need the energy for later) smile.....our little angel, Savannah Rayn, came on schedule and was (is) absolutely gorgeous and totally healthy!! Good luck!!!

I can't comment on this whole thing because none of that ever happened to me, but I can tell you I never strained while I was pregnant, nor at any other time. May I recommend that you increase the amount of fiber that you eat. This should help a bit in that department.

i think you're ok. some spotting and bleeding is normal during pregnancy. esp. if you're straining.

call your doctor if you have questions, though, just to be safe.

congrats and good luck!
