Ok I know you are gonna say something about me being stupid for even bringing this up but.. today I heard this girl say this:
"Did you know that In Africa, I think, they belive that the cure for AIDS is to rape a virgin?.. that's why it's spreading so fast"...
I'M NOT SAYING I BELIVE THIS.. I WAS JUST WONDERING WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THIS??..

No it's not a stupid question. I actually heard this when I was watching a Lisa Ling special that she did for National Geographic. I can't remember what country in Africa she was in but some of the villagers who were men said that they believed and were told that if you rape a virgin you will be cured of AIDS. Then they showed a story about how 15 men had raped a little baby believing they would be cured of AIDS. The baby almost died but she is alive and healthy today. All of this is born out of ignorance. It's sad because many aren't educated about AIDS in many countries in Africa. That's the main reason that AIDS is spreading so rampantly is because lack of education not because of this myth!

There is a somewhat widely held belief in some places, particularly South Africa, that sex with a virgin will clense a man of AIDS. The belief is clearly wrong, but many people do adhere to it.

The sad fact is that someone actually spread this rumor and the people in Africa (who are mostly uneducated and too poor for medical assistance) actually believe this, and this is why a lot of young people have AIDS

I am afraid it is true.. It is sick and sad,. I was reading in Curve about 2 years ago on this. Someone had kidnapped a baby, just a few weeks old... and I wont go on because I cried and vomited over that one. Some people are too sick for words.
But the answer to your question is yes I am sorry to say.

I was watching A&E or one of those, & they said that's true. The example, sadly, were 2 little boys being raised by their grandmother because both of their parents were dead. Their uncle raped them both for that reason. One of the boys had aids at the time of the broadcast.

Unfortunately, some people do believe this, and there is a lot child rape done because men think it will cure them.
I think it's atrocious.

They need to spread another rumor. Spread the rumor that the only way to cure AIDS in a male is to amputate their penis.
