I've been playing World of Warcraft since November of 2005. Recently, my friend and I have canceled our subscription and promised not to play again, but maybe in the summer. The reason we quit our subscription was because we believed we were addicted , and we were. All we would talk about was World of Warcraft, and every party we saw each other, we would talk about World of Warcraft. We talked on Skype together as well, and we would often start arguments and get mad over a game. Recently we had Winter Break, and all we did was play World of Warcraft. This messed up my sleeping schedule for school, and our parents would get mad as well. We decided that we had an addiction and we promised not to play again.
I have about 2 weeks left on my account. Should I install the game again and play it, this time letting my dad use Parental Control to set a schedule of how much I can play? Or should I not play it at all again until summer break?
I also have Burning Crusade pre-ordered.
Thanks.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm a perfectly fit guy and love Basketball. I go outside often and I'm a straight A student. It's just that I believe I'm taking this game too far.

Guys, I'm fit, at the right weight, and I am muscular. Stop telling me to go outside or play sports, because I do that.
Also, my dad can set up the parental controls.

Thanks for your responses guys. I think I'll just try to get an Xbox 360 and play with my friend online with that, but If I can't get an Xbox 360, I'll just focus on Guitar.

cancel your pre-order and quit. That game will ruin you. I have watched some of my friends totally flunk college because of that game. I bet that they are having fun with it now though. Play it then work at Mcdonalds. Wonderful life.

DUDE I WOULD STOP, i mean my friend is addicted to the game and before he seriously was at medium weight and now he is a fat ***. Also in almost all of my conversations he can only talk about WoW and his stats and all these wierd things that he can get and stuff, and how much the expansion is gonna kick butt.... HE HAS NO LIFE... so i would cancel the pre order and stop playing the game now... I mean if you keep getting the craving and you can't do anything at that time then have parental control on... however i'm warning you, it's just a game and if a game takes over more than half of your brain and all you can think about is that game then that's wrong...

I don't know RPG addiction, but here's a sane response to a resonable question: have fun playing, but time yourself, with backup plans. Set a timer for 2 hours. When it rings, log-off. As backup, since I know you'll want to do just one more thing before you stop, have someone else in your house have a timer as well, though set it for fifteen minutes after yours. That should be enough extra time to do that one more thing. If you're not off the game five minutes after said person has told you "time's up," they have permission to pull the plug on the computer. A bit drastic, but well-thought out. Note: get the most stubbourn person you know, someone that WILL pull that plug if you don't get off the computer by the count of three.
Keep this fact in mind: a kid named Shawn Woolley commited suicide because an online RPG lover blew him off. If you're as addicted as you say to online role play, you could end up like him. Or one of the many marathon gamers in Korea that dropped after gaming non-stop for hours and hours. At least you caught yourselves before it got to this level.
Play games 'til your heart's content, but watch yourself.

i replaced into in the comparable boat. My terrific possible advice is do merely not play it, because of the fact if it replaced right into a temptation then, it is going to greater suitable than probable nevertheless be a temptation. even nonetheless, in case you may play it, i might advise averting the cases. i comprehend it truly is a significant part of the interest, however the cases are what can consume the main important volume of time in the interest. additionally, the clarification I performed lots is using the fact I felt obligated to play on condition that i replaced into procuring it. I easily have performed a number of the unfastened mmo's obtainable, and that they at the instant are not a million/2 undesirable. try Runes of Magic or suitable international, in easy terms for kicks. i found that I wasn't virtually as compelled to stay to tell the story those video games for hours because of the fact I wasn't procuring it.

If you really want to play, use the parental controls, limit the amount of time to something small then put in the password yourself. Create the password by typing in a long bunch of keys you won't remember (like IW943Y7U4KKSD). Dont linger on the password or even try to remember, or it will defeat the purpose. Worth a try.

If you can't control it yourself, then it's like any addiction...stop permanently.
If you can't resist...DEFINITELY use the parental controls in an effort to at least curb your amount of time on the computer.
