Ya know, that's an intriguing question. I personally am ready for an articulate, intelligent, well educated, spirit driven, wise, caring, emotionally balanced, fair minded, good humored, open minded black president! I think the uniqueness that (he/she) would bring to the table would be refreshing.
My pick would have to be Ms. Hallie Berry, not because she's a looker...but because she has perseverance and The Lord knows she would need it!
I would also pick Mr. Denzel Washington because he's a thinker and he's not stuck in a box. I also like Mr. Jamie Foxx because he's a very respecting and humble person as well as he is above average in his IQ.

Personally, I'd vote for any candidate I thought was good for the job, regardless of race or gender. The only way we'll ever know if America is ready for a black president, or a female president, is for someone to run. Most likely, this will be put to the test within the next two elections. Personally, I'd like to see Oprah Winfrey run. She may not be in politics, but she's one of the most powerful and influencial people in the world, and her heart is in the right place. I'm just not sure if she knows enough about the military or the politics of the job (international or domestic). But at least she'd be intelligent enough to surround herself with a competent cabinet without an agenda and trust their expertise.

A very debatable question.
B.Osama seems to have shot himself in the foot. (people adored Clinton but hated that he sidestepped the issue of smoking grass) Cocaine? Not gonna fly even with most of the liberals I know.
Colin Powell...he has a great popularity but has vowed he will not run.(heard that line before)(I know he'd have my vote)
there are several other black politicians but none that have the clout to pull off a national election.
James Earl Jones? Great actor, fantastic voice, Not politically viable.
I think the USA is more ready for a black man than a woman.(the US neeeds Hillary like the arabs need sand)

Yes America is ready. I don’t know if Obama would be ready for this coming election but he certainly be ready for the next in 2012. I think he will be the first bi-racial president whenever he decides to run for the office.

America is not ready for anything unconventional. Proof: Bush Jr. got elected TWICE cuz of his name. but for giggles, Samuel L. Jackson gets my vote. I can see it now "Outta my way you North Korean mother f****rs, I'm gonna ram my mother f****ng boot right up your a**es."

Maybe, but I think it would need to be a Republican because they will be able to reach across party lines and get more votes.
