I dropped my Gateway notebook a few weeks ago, and now I need to replace my cdrw/dvd drive. I've already tried re-installing the drives and that didn't work..When looking for a new drive are there specific requirements my system needs, or will any cdrw/dvd drive work? Are they really expensive and difficult to install? I need as much info as possible. Thanks

If you just tried to plug in the drive you may have knocked the connection at the motherboard loose. A DVD-RW for a notebook will run from $50 for a used once on eBay to $200+ for a OEM replacement. You could alway put a $30 CDrom in the notebook and then get a $100 USB DVD-RW.
