Define your self know yourself and love yourself...then you are who you want to be. To others yes we are what they think we are (based on what they are able to relate to in the image of us they create). The gap between who you are and who others think you are closes when you live a simple straightforward, honest, genuine, pure life. Out of breath after that one!

We ...you can never generalize everyone. The person you think you are could be great whilst others think your an egotistical ******* or vise versa. Sometimes it's hard to fully express you self all the time and would rather conform. You are you who you think you are, it's always good to see yourself from a 3rd person point of view but uniqueness is good. But hell if you think your a great person then your a great person until you finally wake up and your opinion of yourself changes when you measure your life to that of society's standards and accept this measurement to apply to your own life.
Everyone has a different opinion and you're going to choose which ever answer is closest to your own. But I hope you'll will at least think about it and compare it with other theories.

We really don't know that person in others memories, they are known only to the person in question and change according to each person's memory of us.
On the other hand we are not just, or completely, the person we think we are. We tend to have a one sided view of ourselves, and not necessarily seeing who we are, but who we think we are or want to be.

We are who we want to be, but yes we are in other's people's memory, because if you meet someone long ago and haven't seen them since, you are the person in other people's memory.

i think, therefore i am

if we were in another's mind, dream or memory, that person has no control over our minds, so we could be in endless chains of abstract thoughts and dreams
that could be one reason why there is no absolute reality, reality and truth become distorted by perceivers

so i think, therefore i am, i think therefore i exist, but what defines existence and WHERE it all hangs is the question, your question, with no definite answer

We are whoever we really are... it need not match with either what we ourselves think or what others think of ourselves. However, in the ultimate analysis, since we are a social being and have to live with others, what these others think of us is of great importance to us, especially those whom we love or value or hold in high esteem.

Try figuring out who enjoys your smiles, it's not your lips or face!

Who cares about your arm burning? Neither your arm or your brain!

Who cares about the attractive person that you see? Not your eyes, brains or sex organs.

If you have an answer, then you know who YOU are!

We are who we choose to be, whomever we create ourself to be. Who we are in the memory of another is their perception of who we are, not ours. Where does subjectivity end?
