The elephant, no doubt. As evidence, elephants can easily kick the crap out of lions. Also, consider that an elephant weighs between 3 and 5 tonnes, or about 6-10,000 kilograms. Meanwhile, the largest bears weigh about 700 kilograms. It's possible to kill something ten times your size, but it's not easy. The bear is pretty poorly armed to do that. His number one advantage, strength, won't help compared to the vastly superior strength and weight of the elephant.

Elephant. Just its girth and rage would cause it to ram the bear. The elephant has a tusk and a trunk that could swipe off the bear. The Common Bear has an average height(standing Tall) of around 10 feet while the African/Indian Elephant ranges around 16-20 feet. Think of a bear trying to bite an elephant's think skin and being rammed and stampeded over.

And this is why the mammoth grew extinct in the arctic!

Too many apt predators! I do think if it were a polar bear the elephant would not make it. The polar bear is quick, nimble, very large, and very aggressive! It's jaws can break the neck of a sea lion through 5 inches of blubber with it's razor sharp teeth.

Lions in a pride have been known to take down a grown, healthy elephant in the savannas of Africa...I think a polar bear could manage.

The adult elephant has no natural predators, precisely because it is able to defend itself against the attack of any predator. Even a full grown tiger won't attack a full grown elephant, and a tiger is a much more dangerous predator than a bear.

Stop setting up these hypothetical combats!! Especially, when the winner of this one is a lock. I would not take the bear, even if you gave me a three touchdown, 21 point, spread!!
