I don't understand why I keep getting this vaginal infection. It's NOT an STD or anything like that, it's something like a yeast infection I guess, but maybe worse? I don't need this. I have went to the doctor several times for this. Could it have something to do with me masturbating? My hands are clean and all the other chicks who masturbate don't get BV. WTH?

The cause of Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) is not fully understood. BV is associated with an imbalance in the bacteria that are normally found in a woman's vagina. The vagina normally contains mostly "good" bacteria, and fewer "harmful" bacteria. BV develops when there is an increase in harmful bacteria.

Not much is known about how women get BV.

Some activities or behaviors can upset the normal balance of bacteria in the vagina and put women at increased risk including:

- Having a new sex partner or multiple sex partners,
- Douching, and
- Using an intrauterine device (IUD) for contraception.

It is not clear what role sexual activity plays in the development of BV. Women do not get BV from toilet seats, bedding, swimming pools, or from touching objects around them. Women that have never had sexual intercourse are rarely affected.

BV is treatable with antibiotics such as metronidazole or clindamycin.

BV is not completely understood by scientists, and the best ways to prevent it are unknown. However, it is known that BV is associated with having a new sex partner or having multiple sex partners. It is seldom found in women who have never had intercourse.

The following basic prevention steps can help reduce the risk of upsetting the natural balance of bacteria in the vagina and developing BV: be abstinent, lmit the number of sex partners, do not douche, and use all of the medicine prescribed for treatment of BV, even if the signs and symptoms go away.

I'm a nurse. This could be the problem. Try to make sure your hands are really clean as everyone Else's. You know there are other things to consider. Are your friends (chicks) hands and other body parts clean. The bacteria is coming from somewhere and it isn't good to get these repeatably. Be safe and take care of you.

Just wash your toys, and wipe front to back. Your A** has a lot of bacteria so you have to be careful with that.
