I think its a shame that such material is so easily available for all to see. Our society today is much too liberal with all it is willing to show either on tv or the internet. Kids today are growing up way too fast because of these types of things being so readily available for all to see.
Part of the reason for watching it, is human curiosity. Ever seen a car accident? Notice how everyone slows down to check it out and if its a really bad one, people all but stop to look? Human interest in death or injury to others causes us to do this.
I do believe, however, that if people need the closure to see it themselves, they should be allowed. Especially the families and close friends of those that Saddam murdered for mostly arrogant reasons.

I would oppose showing an ordinary execution publicly, but Saddam was a special case. He was a head of state responsible for at least 300,000 murders, not counting war-related deaths. And he headed a regime of torture and rape. I think it is necessary that his death be witnessed by as many as are willing.
It was simple coincidence that Saddam died near the time President Ford died, and it can't be helped. In any case, Ford's life was more memorable than his death.

i think that saddam hussein's execution being televised and released on the internet is just a proof to all of those he has terrorized, that he is in fact being put out of everyone's misery and being sentenced to the full extents he has supposedly deserved based on his actions. the cell phone video up cclose and personal didnt need to be shown, but the actions leading up to his actual release in the gallows being shown has put relief into a lot of iraqis and american's minds and and hearst this year. unfortunately, gerald ford's death has been overshadowed by the execution of a man who killed many men and had no decency for human life. gerald ford was a terrific man who passed away and was honored, but i dont know that many people had tuned into that to mourn him as have to praise the death of saddam. i dont know what to think of it, but i did see the execution of saaddam online (full-fledged) and also watched the internment of gerald ford in my state and it was much more pleasant to watch the honoring of a great man laid to rest with his family there than it was to see saddam die a martyr without suffering.

i've no feeling about saddam. he did very good things for iraqi people and he also did many bad things using his power. but when the matter of death comes, i think he deserved some respect as a human being, in his last moments. i didn't like taking videos of his execution and showing them on tv and web. i didn't support it at all. in fact, saddam doesn't matter. someone is dying, it is not very exciting to watch.
bad people do bad things, but why we have to be bad?

No it was gross. We should all protest this disregard for life! How are we any different then those that push cameras and microphones into the faces of families while they are grieving! A law was carried out, that does not mean we should jump for joy. We should be introspective and mourn that anyone should be as evil as he was and mourn that as humans we have to be so violent when we are capable of so much goodness.Do what must be done but you don't have to enjoy it! Shouldn't! What correlation can I use? Parents- they don't laugh and celebrate when they punish a child. Mature, balanced human beings should bemoan the necessity for killing.

I feel it is wrong. Having served in the U.S. Navy and spent a good portion of my life employed by the Federal Gov't I feel somewhat surprised by my reaction to this 'execution'.
First, we never should have executed him on a U.S. Base. Secondly, nobody should have been allowed to openly tape it (as it appears to have been openly taped). Seriously, who could hold a camera phone up that close and get that kind of view without SOMEONE seeing the camera phone? I ask you?
This is only going to stir up those people who wish to attack us. No good will come of this execution and it will reflect more ill will towards our Administration (again like we need that) and subsequent 'viewing'. I couldn't even stomach listening to the 'salacious' newscasters discussing it.
How is it that millions of viewers can stomach watching a hanging? What is this time we live in The Inquisition?
It is going to bite us in the Butt, mark my words!

The person that took the video got arrested, so it's
not right to show on the internet.

I think it's wrong. I think to watch it is sadistic. I can't see how anyone could want to watch someone die. What are the reasons for it, to say they've seen it? because they get some sick pleasure out of it? there are no right reasons. In all sense of the situation it's just plain wrong.

I haven't seen it, and think filming a public execution is one thing that goes beyond the limits of poor taste.
Is showing it right? One vote for NO.
