Nope, - show her the door.
But to 'fix' my initial reaction, I'd have to meet him first. If he's super mature, then why is he dating my 18 yr. old? If he's "immature", - then "there's something wrong with him".

Well, I am a parent, although I don't have an 18 year old, or a daughter, for that matter. I know what you're trying to say--you don't like the idea, but, really, there is nothing you can do. At the age of 18, she is legally an adult. Six years may seem a lot, but, really it isn't--it just depends on her maturity level.

Yeah she is 18, Let her choose her own partner. Its only 6 years and really will it still matter when she is 30 and he is 36? I dont think so.
Just ask to meet him and get her to tell you where she is going and make sure she takes a cell. Get to know him. She is prob better off with a 24 y.o. man than an 18 or 19 y.o. immature boy.

It really all depends on how mature my daughter is and how mature the guy is. Just because they are 18/24 doesn't mean that they are necessarily mature enough to be in a realtionship.

There's nothing really wrong with that. Which is better, going to dinner with someone more mature, or going to a street racing contest with a guy who's 18?
I've never understood the theory that older is worse, or more dangerous somehow, especially when there's no difference in the amount of sexual activity. Could someone please explain this?

Yeah it isn't about the age but the maturity and how he would treat my daughter. But at 18 there really isn't much a parent can do to prevent it. It isn't illegal or anything.

At 18, they can go get a marriage license without asking anyone for permission, so the question is moot.

Well it would be her decision but if I didn't like the guy, if he didn't treat her right, and she just saw right through it, I'd try to convince her not to be with him. But it would always be her decision, and I couldn't go against that. It's her life, and sometimes she may have to learn things the hard way. But of course, if it's a nice guy then what's to lose?!
