I just started a new job 2 days ago, and I don't like it. I just left a stressful job that I was at for 1.5 years part time-non benefitted. The only difference is that this one is a local county job at the Health Dept clinic and it has *excellent benefits* but the pay is low. More than several people have expressed negativity about the job, specifically my position. At lunch, one told me to get out while I can, one of the other clerks where I will be working ended up in the hospital due to stress. The girl that was supposed to train me told me," If I train you, I'll show you how to do everything just once, then you are on your own, I have no patience for training." I asked for another person. It is a lot of paperwork and detailed computer work . I will not give up, but it just seems I can never find a job that suits me, I'm beginning to think I'm the problem. I was so unhappy in my last job and I don't want the same situation. I'm so happy to get this job now I'm discouraged.

Try to maintain an open mind. It might not be so bad but after so mant negative opinions from others it could be as bad as they will say. You will never know unless you try. Give it your best shot and if you hate it, move on. Life is too short to doubt yourself. Its hard to find your perfect place in this world but keep trying and you will get there eventually. Good luck

It can be difficult to find a job you like. Also, something to think about is that most companies have openings because someone else left. They probably left for some reason. Sometimes it just because life circumstances change and people move on. If a company has frequent openings year round and it's not a really large company, it's probably stressful and not an ideal place to work. Usually jobs where you work for the government do have really good benefits. My suggestion would be to give it a couple of months. Every job can seem overwhelming at first. Once you get into a routine and get the hang of things you may feel differently.

Tough one! It sounds to me like you have not found a job that is meant for you. Know this, sometimes you have to take alot of crappy jobs to end up getting the one that you really want. I just got a great job in October, now mind you I am 35 and have been working since I was 16, so it took a while, but it's worth it....I also work with a bunch of great people, and excellent benefits. Hang tough, if you really don't feel this job is a fit for you, look for something else, but keep this one in the meantime. If you have a resume, put it on Careebuilder.com I have had great luck with it. ALSO, go through the temp agencies it's a bit of dancing, but they do find you the best and some companies (really good ones) only hire through them now. I would talk to HR about the gal who is training you, sounds like she needs an attitude adjustment! Good Luck!

I am sorry to hear that. I would try and tune out the negativity. A lot of it is what you make of it so try and keep a good attitude and give the job a chance. Find out on your own whether the job is for you. The other people there are jaded and hate seeing other happy or they feel threatened. Don't be afraid to ask questions. If the person did not do a good job of training you, speak up, ask questions. Be polite and respectful when asking. If they still are not helpful, go to their supervisor and ask for the specific thing you did not get trained on. Good luck.

Don't get discouraged, do your best and in the mean time look in the papers or on line in you town and see if you can find something you really want to do. And the Girl that was suppose to train you was nothing but RUDE> I would have asked if she got that kind of training. I would look for something else. Or go to the owner of the business and tell him/her what is happening. You can also go to your doctor and ask him for something for stress. If you quit or get laid off without having another job this would help you get your unemployment. You do not have to work under stress. If you want, you could go to the unemployment office and tell then you are looking for another job and why. Good Luck.

You should be asked to be trained by some else. Or make sure you take good notes or bring a digital recorder or tape recorder with you. Some jobs are harder than other. But give it your best, and if doesn't work out then it doesn't. Don't get stressed whatever you can get done then do. People often go trough many jobs that they don't like just don't give up.

sounds like your under alot of stress. try to relax at work and take it positivley and dont put yourself down by thinking that your the problem. Look back at your past few days and think about what you have done and if you are doing your part in the workplace. Think about how you can improve.

There's nothing wrong with you, it just looks like you traded one hellhole for another. If I were you I'd keep that job and being looking for another at the same time.
