Well, I live about a 2 1/2 hour drive from the Mexican border, so I'd wouldn't call myself a northerner. But California was definitely with the Yankee side of the Civil War . . .

This question is too confusing.

I guess I'm a westerner, and yes, we care a hell of a lot about the USC Trojans.

Wow, back when we were always called Yankees (or more likely Yanks), Columbia's football team kicked much ***, Princeton was a national powerhouse and Rutgers was a feared squad.
I think people in Boston might care about college football, what with Boston College being a top 25 team and all.

Well here goes, I'll probably get reported again, but this is a True Redneck question. I grew up in Tuscaloosa, cut my teeth on Tide Football, MOVED UP NORTH to YANKEE LAND for 39 years so we could get a decent job. We had YANKEE neighbors who would not let you in their house to watch a game, unless you were wearing your favorite team sweatshirt. I gave tons of Tide clothing as Christmas gifts while there, and converted a lot of people to Tide football!!
We live in Sweet Home Alabama now, but still get e mails and phone calls from "Up North" on game days.

You make a good point. Every time a team from the SEC wins a title (7 in a row) is why good players are going to SEC schools and they continue to be so dominant. To answer your question though, there is two types of college football fans: bandwagon fans who only root for their team when they are winning and devoted fans who root for their team regardless of the losses. Which one are you?

I love college football because it gives me just one more way to bash on mud ducks (Minnesotans). Badgers rule, Gophers suck the big one.

I don't. I never understood the fascination with watching amateur athletes compete unless its the Olympics.
