The timing belt is what runs off the crankshaft gear to the cam gear and also turn your water pump.. If this belt breaks. the engine dies, and most often the engine gets out of time, causing the valves to bend, and sometimes come in contact with the pistons, The cost of repair in ALABAMA is 650.00, this is parts and labor. and it is recommended every 90k miles.. also I recommend replacing the water pump, and doing a valve adjustment..I a simple form of words...belt breaks, engine stop running...

First, what determined the desire for the timing belt? If this is as a results of get replaced as area of the commonplace upkeep agenda, wonderful. And why do you want a gas pump? If the vehicle runs wonderful because it truly is, i might want to question that. The gas pump is often placed contained in the gas tank that is a discomfort to interchange, so i'm not particular that that complete fee is quite unreasonable. BTW, even as replacing the timing belt, this is consistently stated you replace the water pump at the same time, because this is placed good there, and may want to dodge having to do a similar troublesome artwork lower back between belt replacements. you may also call diverse different shops on your area and get an estimate of what they could fee for a similar service. also, you should use the link presented to locate a mechanic on your area who has strong comments thoughts from purchasers. seek for 'locate a Mechanic" and enter your zip code for the information...(you may want to favor to envision out the full web site, for interesting and vehicle information)... wish that permits! EDIT: sure at 110k it truly is going to be due for the T-belt/water pump, now this is merely "buying the deal!"

Yep thats about right and those parts are the lifeline of the car the timing belt turns the motor and the water pump pumps the coolant thru the engine. Just the pump and the belt plus other seals and etc parts is gonna run about 400+ if you think you can do it yourself but since it's a more luxury acura yeah 1000 sounds right.
i just did my integra and they quoted me I think 600 but I did it myself for only the price of the parts.

The timing belt is the connection to all your other belts. If it snaps while driving it, it will need re-timed with a timing machine. Usually by a mechanic. I suggest replacing that ASAP. As for the water pump, they last a little longer but if you notice your car's temp gage going up in heat every now and then, the water pump might need replaced. good luck!

Never get a dealership to work on your car unless you're not paying for it. Get a good garage to do it for you instead. If you're mechanically inclined you might be able to do it yourself, but im not sure how hard it is since it sounds like your timing belt powers your waterpump (just makes it more difficult, whereas my car has a separate belt that powers my WP). Otherwise you got a honda engine in there it sounds like, so it's not going to be insanely complicated.
