Well does your school have a drivers ed course? Mine does so you just sign up there then go to the place where they give liscenses (liscensing department/department of transportation) and you fill out your info for a permit. Then you take drivers ed. Then when you hit 16 you take your test. At least that's how you do it in Washington. :) I didn't need to take a test for my permit. Each state is different. After you get your liscense, you can't drive anyone outside your family for 6 months. And you can't take your liscense test until you've had your permit for 6 months. And you can take your test 2 months early.
That's my out of order summary.

I'm 15 and and like 4 months and i live in oregon. i dont have my permit yet but if you go to a DMV, you can pick up a Driver's Manual and after reading that/studying it, you can go back to the DMV and get tested for your permit. And i'm not really sure about getting your liscense. i know you have to be 16. and i heard their changing the rules or something like you have to wait a year after you your liscense to legally drive by yourself of something im not too sure if that's right though. but you can get yoru liscenses after passing drivers ed or driving like 1000 hours of something like that.

Either go online with the BMV or call them and ask them how you go about getting your permits license. They might want you to take a drivers test along with taken the written test. So you might have to borrow someones vehicle in order to do that. Not sure just call and find out though.

I would take a driver's ed course. Maybe you could sign up with a friend.

Check the yellow pages in your area.
