Alright I'm 5'6 and I can grab rim.

Today I tryed to dunk on the hoop in my high school but the ball just hits the rim.
How many inches do I need to dunk?

I tested my vertical today and my hand goes over the rim then I grabbed.

Try more at grabbing the rim with both hands on a one step jump or vertical leap. Practice at this and it will get alot easier. Keep on hoppin'!!

the biggest problem you will run into is keeping the ball in your hand. Make sure you can grip the crap out of the ball. That is the hardest thing to get used to when learning to dunk.

As for your vertical you need to at least get your forearm up to the rim, just enough room for the ball to get over the rim.

My suggestion...lay it up. Get the 2 points..haha

Pratice dunking easy first, almost like a layup then it will become natural. If you think you need an inch or two jump rope or do the drill where you touch the backboard several times.

You need to make it your goal to touch the rim with your wrist, maybe even an inch or two more towards your elbow.
