One of the most influential areas of music after Elvis came from Liverpool - it was called Merseybeat and was more than just the Beatles. There were so many groups in and around the Liverpool area that you wouldn't believe it. Not all of them landed recording contracts and had hit records. The Liverpool area was such a hotbed of rock though because of the ships that docked there and the seamen would bring in the latest American records which the Merseyside groups would then put their own particular brand of interpretation to.
Another idea might be to take a look at the teen idols of the late '50's - Frankie Avalon, Fabian, Paul Anka and others. They almost ruined rock and roll.
Last idea - skiffle - British folk in the late 1950's popularized by people such as Lonnie Donegan. It never caught on here.
Good Luck - hope these help!

You should start out with some ld rock like Elvis and the Beatles. Then start getting to my favorite band Boston and the new changes in rock and Roll. Then your in the sex and drugs age with meatloaf, Kiss, and Ozzy. Then talk about now with my chemical romance and others. Also don't forget other branches like alternative rock, soft and hard rock, metal, and sadly country rock. Oldies should be a page. Classic would be a page and a half. Drugs and sex age should be 2 and a half. Now rock should be a page, and the branch's should be about a page and a half.
Trust me, i love rock and roll!

Rock 'n' Roll got its jumpstarted with the 1956 hit "Rock Around the Clock" by Bill Haley and the Comets, when it was used in the movie "Blackboard Jungle" It was the sound that spoke directly to teens, horrified the parents, and sent the clergy up in arms: They had seen the devil, and thus the end of the world must be near.
Watch some movies about the Rock 'n' Roll pioneers, like Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis Presly. and learn abot the complex Black roots of Rock 'n' Roll, sung by white kids, that everybody thought were black.
Good luck on your project

You would get more information if you went to www.google.com and put in rock and roll and you should get information on it. One thing you should mention in your report is that rock and roll started in the 1950's and who started it like, Elvis, etc.
