I would like to reseed my lawn but I live next to a creek that runs into a lake down the street. Does anyone know of a weed killer that is safe for the envioronment? Also, would it make any sense to seed my lawn without killing the weeds first?

Good for you for being concerned about the environment, especially given your close proximity to a creek.

There are good non-chemical weed killers available. Some are based on a corn by-product. Check out the website for GardensAlive. They have lots of different organic yard products, including several that are specific to lawn areas. Look for their WOW (WithOut Weeds) lawn products in particular. Good products, good service, and a good thing for our environment!

there is no non-chemical selective weed killer obtainable, a minimum of that i'm conscious of. in case you do not favor to apply a chemical backyard fertilizer the really potential to selectively kill the weeds and in no way the grass is to pull them out by hand. the different answer might want to be to locate spray them with a non-chemical weed killer. this is going to go away some brown spots on the backyard quickly.

non chemical weed killer just use hot water salt and a few drops of dish soap in a spray bottle shake it up and you got stuff just like round up but not the price but be sure the weeds are no more than 2 inches or so tall and a few days later no more weeds the dish soap helps the salt water stick to the weed and not run off as fast and the salt just dries up the weeds and they are gone. as long as you just spray the weeds lightly it wont hurt anything because the weed absorbs the water i would get rid of the weeds then seed

You really need to kill the weeds before you seed other wise you take the risk of killing seed and grass when you spary any kind of weed killer.

The best weed killer I've ever found is vinegar. Weeds have fat cells in them and vinegar kills fat and it does wimp out when it gets wet in fact we usually water a little right after spraying so the plant will soak it up and die.
