The party line is as follows:

1) They believe in stem cell research.
2) They believe in abortion.
3) That education is important & funds should be increased to improve education for all.
4) They believe that medical care & prescriptions should be more affordable.
5) They want taxes to be friendlier for the middle class & did not agree with the tax pkg which was passed favoring the rich. They do not want additional tax cuts for the rich to go into effect as scheduled.

That's about it in a nutshell. Not all Democrats agree with the party line re stem cell research or abortion but then not all Republicans agree with their party either.
