Well the first day will be hardest to break the habit but you can do it. The reason why you you fall asleep so late is beacause you sleep most of your hours after you get home from school. So when you get home from school try to stay up until like 9 and 10 and then go to bead. This will be hard the first day since you are really tired after school but you are just going to have to find a way to stay up. So when night comes you will sleep like a baby. Also when you start getting into this routine I would start doing a little excersise. I am not sure if you like workout our not but it will help you go to sleep. Even if you just walk around for 30 minutes that will still help. Try to eat good and don't drink our eat anything with alot of caffeine our sugar at night. Good luck

I'm going to take a different tack on this; instead of just "changing the habit", try light exercise - like an hour's jog or so - each day. This will tire you out a bit, and have the added side effect of clearing unnecessary tension that can cause insomnia and day weariness. Keep naps short; any more than 15 to 20 minutes can cause your body to believe it's been asleep for much longer, and when you wake up - perhaps at 5 or 6 PM - you may be somewhat disoriented as to the time of day.

most high school teenagers are having these problems nowadays. What you need is a self discipline. Try to go to bed at 9 or 10, turn off your cell phone your internet, your tv, your music or whatever may cause you to stay up. Try to read or try to learn to relax.
Wake up as normal 6 am, when you get home at 4pm relax but dont sleep. Answer all your calls, reply to all your emails, do your homework or projects. Have a family time with your siblings and parents and if you have pets.
Goodluck to your new habit. It will take time but it will happen

I had the same problem when I got out of the military. I started drinking a glass of wine at bedtime and now I fall asleep almost immediately. This could be a bad idea if you're not old enough though.

You can adjust it slowly by one hour a day. Just like people have jetlag. It should take you about 5 days to get to normal sleep pattern. First day sleep only 5 hours in the afternoon, the second day sleep only 4 hours and change slowly and easily. The sixth day you should back to normal.

a glass of warm milk or some caffeine free tea with camomile. There is also something called melatonin which you take 30 min before going to sleep everyn night, it really works but you have to take it every night. You can find it at walmart with the natural supplements.

Since i've been drinking camomile tea i've been falling asleep much easier. I also feel more refreshed when I wake up so it must be helping me. I drink it about an hour before I go to bed.

Our bodies pretty much indicate to us when we need to rest. As long as your sleeping schedule doesn't interfere with studies or social life, I'd just go with it. it sounds like your natural rhythm.
