There is no vitamin/herb supplements that have good success rates. I've heard of natural progesterone cream, cinnamon, and supplement programs that are super expensive. None of those seems to work well alone. I would stay away from the supplement programs, but you can try the other things (but I would still treat the PCOS the correct way at the same time). I've also known a few people who had limited success with acupuncture.

Generally, the best treatment for PCOS is to go on a low carb diet, exercise, and use an insulin sensitizing drug such as metformin (1500-2550mg per day). There are a 3 supplements that I take: Multivitamin (make sure it has vit. B in it), Omega acids, Calcium/Vit. D. Here's some basic PCOS info and links for you:

I recommend seeing a reproductive endocrinologist. They are generally more knowledgeable about PCOS and the correct treatment. Unfortunately, many doctors are not aware of the proper treatment.

The underlying cause of PCOS is insulin resistance (IR). The best treatment for PCOS is going on an insulin sensitizing drug such as metformin (1500-2550mg per day) combined with a low carb diet and exercise. There are a few important things to know:

1. Many women "pass" the test for IR, but still respond positively from the metformin. No one knows exactlly why..my thought is that the test is not a sure fire way of detecting the IR.

2. You must be on a high enough dose of metformin. I've heard women complain that their bodies dont start working even though they've been on metformin for awhile. Some doctors are hesitant to up the dose past 1500mg...but for some of us it takes more. I don't respond until my dose is around 2000mg a day.

3. It can take a few months on the correct dose, before your body is regulated.

4. It is important to treat your PCOS even if you are not trying to get pregnant. There are higher risks for many things (high blood pressure, blood clots, diabetes, and many other things) when you have PCOS, but if it is treated properly, then those risks are lowered.

When the PCOS is treated properly, all of your symptoms may not disappear, but they should improve some. It will also be a lot easier to lose weight (and keep it off). Our bodies work against us when we try to lose weight on our own, making it nearly impossible to lose weight.

There are TONS of books about PCOS and dieting. There are two that I recommend. Here's the links at amazon for those:

I'd get a second opinion earlier than doing something most important. I used to be on clomid for 6 cycles and i have rather bad PCOS. Once in a while my ovaries would swell, but if your medical professional is monitoring you, they should capture it early. If the doctor that gave you the clomid is not monitoring you, then possibly you have to find another health care professional. I had no challenge clomid even as trying to conceive. I might advise seeing an reproductive endocrinologist that focuses on these type of issues. As for the clomid affecting your progesterone, i do not feel it was the clomid, however the part results of the Pcos. After I subsequently conceived via IVF, I had to be on progesterone shots on the grounds that with PCOS your physique would not produce ample of it. Simply calm down a little bit. I know the loss is rough, I lost my baby at 22 week, but I feel it is too early for you to make decisions about ever making an attempt again. I too made those decisions proper after I misplaced my little one, however now 7 months later i am attempting once more.

i did some research on false unicorn root. odd i know, but it had some promising results listed. so i called around and found it at a health food store. didn't work for me, but nothing has. it tastes nasty, but we all know we'd do just about anything if it only worked. it's the liquid version of false unicorn root. be careful there is a true unicorn root that is bad for you i believe.
