Posting this question again: I have a membrane across the bottom of my uterus below the baby covering the cervix. This is not the placenta. I was having constant spotting for about a month, they did the ultrasound at 12 weeks. I am now 20 weeks and have not had any spotting for a month. Anyone know what this extra membrane is? I have been told it could be a vanishing twin.

Sounds like the twin thing could be a possibility, or maybe an extra sack that never developed an actual baby, and your body is slowly getting rid of it... I've heard of that happening. However, the more important thing is that it's not causing anymore bleeding, and hopefully it will be gone by the time you go into labor. Will they be doing another ultrasound soon? Hope everything turns out, and congrats!

I would say an extra membrane is another amnionic sack. Sounds like you did have another baby that didn't make it. Don't worry it should pass normally when you go into labor. Good luck!
