well a few questions...have you guys talked about "forever"? If so, what's her view? Are you worried that you giving her the promise ring (showing more attention) that she might cheat on you?

As far as your family goes I don't see where they even add into the equation...no matter what (unless it's a straight white male if I understand correctly) they won't be happy with your choice of mate. While having family support is nice...you need to do, what you need to do, for you.

All this having been said...I would set up a perfect evening for the two of you, that can be whatever means something to you both...doesn't matter what anyone else percieves as "romantic" or "perfect" as long as it works for you. Find the "right time" and give her the ring...explain to her that the ring comes from you with no pressure, but that the ring comes from you because she will be a part of you forever, and you would like her to be part of that forever. (or something along those liones that you would be comfortable saying, and you know she wouldn't be too wierded out hearing...but if you're this committed, you probably know her well enough to figure that part out for yourself.

Oh...and Congrats & Good Luck, hun!

P.S. --- Ginger...it never fails to amaze me how rude people will be for the sake of 2 friggin points...

Pretty Kitty, if it wasn't you asking the question I would swear this was made up. Is this the new girlfriend of your husband's friend who loves animals? The same friend you were thinking you might be able to get Rocky to warm up to a little? If it is, I find it a little odd that he is attracted to her. Usually, animal lovers are attracted to other animal lovers, and this gal is certainly not a true animal lover. I wonder if his eyes were opened a little as a result of her behaviour over at your place. I really don't know why people like her get an animal. She'd be better off with a stuffed toy or a goldfish or something. She probably got a cat because it was a cute little kitten. Maybe the kitty matched her decor or something and she thinks of her cat as an accessory, like people who buy a little dog to carry around in their purse. I feel so sorry for her poor cat. I wish there was something that could be done about people like her. She sounds like a very shallow person who will never experience true "companionship", whether it be with an animal or another person. Add: Babz, I'm next in line for the slapping!

Think to yourself: If she were to give me a ring, what would the most romantic setting be? What would I want her to say? What would I want her to do?

I've noticed that with my female partners, they think that I'm really a romantic because I do for them and give them what I would want them to give me. I think that is the best part of a woman-woman relationship! You know what they like and vice versa.

Oh, and your family hasn't got much to do with this, unless by 'promise ring' you mean 'engagement ring'.

And Congratulations!

My girlfriend gave me mine when we were in the bathtub together. She just slipped it on my finger. I was holding her in my arms, with her back to my chest, and she sat up and turned around and spilled her guts to me. We both cried. It was wonderful.
It really worked because it was unconventional, and it was simple, you know, there wasn't a big production with a box and a down on one knee and everything. That's why I think it would work for you, since you're the more feminine :) Good Luck!

wow, candy's story was so sweet it made me start crying.. a proposal in the bath tub would be so awesome..

don't worry about your family's views. it's sad that they can't accept you and love you. focus on your girlfriend and don't worry about her being a stud. we are all human beings and we all have a sensitive and emotional side.

but yah, if you and your girl take bath's together, then that would be perfect! go for it! and good luck....
