Just take out the jewelry for the job interview....once you get the job it will be your job performance and attitude that determine the rest.

If you do not fit the 'regular mould' the employers shy away. They don't come out in the open and say it. They normally do not hire people like that. Why? There is nothing personal against you for wearing something like that. It is just that they are sensitive as to what their customers "feel" dealing with you.
It projects a certain image of the company which does not fit their 'regular mould'.
It hurts their sales.
So, they simply say it is best not to hire such-n-such, but hire that other girl who fits the 'regular mold'.
Who loses out in the end? All because you thought it is cool?

Um, yeah. Those places don't allow visible piercings other than your ears. And they have strict guidelines on ear piercings.
You might be better off at an independent record or clothing store. Smaller companies usually don't mind your appearance; they just want you to be reliable and trustworthy. And honestly I make at least twice as much at my little vintage store as I ever did at any other corporate job I've ever had. And I can wear my pink hair and PJ's to work.

it really depends on the person hiring you, ask them during the interview if a piercing would bother them because i know a few places that do not accept people with tatoos piercings or "different" hair styles. I say be straight with the person and if hes not fine, you probably wont like working for him anyways

Since it's on your face, yes, it will effect your chances, but since you're not going into the food industry, it's not as bad.
My suggestion is to go ahead & get the piercing before you get the interview, but buy some clear studs/rings so that it's less noticeable.

Yeah, I would ask the particular person doing the hiring. All managers/companies have different policies. I have a small tattoo on my ankle, and my employer (a school) doesn't care, because they know I can do my job well.

I think piercings do play a role in hiring. Even if you were to get hired, they still might make you cover or take off your ring while you're working. Do you really want to deal with that hassle?

if they hire you with it, they can't fire you later because of it. many places are becoming a lot more liberal in their hiring practices. i have seen individuals with their lobes guaged out to a zero working at walmart.
