you should try to get into the habit now of sleeping on your left side.
dito what was said about laying on your back--that cuts of blood flow to major veins/arteries.
your body will let you know when you cant lay on your back anymore. (the lack of being able to breathe any breath is a sign of that, lol)
Im due in 20 days & no way is comfy for me to sleep, lol-I toss and turn all night long. it stinks.
of course stomach sleeping is out, laying on my back my breathing all but stops--and no matter which side I lay on, I get a leg cramp about 5 minutes later and have to reposition again.
ugh--Good Luck & enjoy your sleep now while you can

I'm 25wks pregnant and starting to experience the same thing - i mean i toss and turn all night anyway so i'm not always sleeping on my back or on my sides but as i fall asleep i just can't do it whilst on either side.
You can use a body pillow - they help or (and for me - this is even better than a body pillow) i sleep with three pillows to support my head and a triangle pillow behind me - cradling the small of my back.
This means that i am not lying flat on my back (which can apparently hinder circulation and breathing as you get bigger), my back is supported, and, most importantly, its comfortable and i can fall asleep like that!! Also, i found with the body pillow its a hassle to turn over during the night - with my latest method its not an issue at all!
Thats just my two cents! lol
Good luck :)

You sound like me...except I'm only 15 weeks pregnant...and I'm so uncomfortable on my side.
This is what I've read:
Back Sleeping: After 5 months, pregnant women shouldn't sleep on their backs. There is a main artery that can get pressed on from the weight of the uterus when mom sleeps on her back. This can deprive the baby of oxygen.
Stomach Sleeping: This is totally fine to do for as long as mom feels comfortable. For me, a combo stomach/leg up sort of thing is working. When I lie on my side, I tend to flop over on my back again and I don't know how I'm going to fix that by next month.
you could try one of those big body pillows too...instead of snuggling it, put it behind your body so you'll be less likely to end up "flat" on your back.
Good luck!

i slept on my back. the only reason it isnt good to sleep on your back, is because when the baby gets bigger and presses down more on your spine, and makes your legs "fall asleep". you'll get that tingley feeling. and, people who sleep on thier back tend to wake up with lower back pain, because there is pressure on that part of the back all night long. i used two body pillows to sleep on. just put them side by side, so your body lays right in the middle. it will feel like you're sleeping on a cloud.

No, you do no longer ought to sleep on your left edge except your wellbeing care expert has informed you in any different case. in case you're experiencing issues during hard artwork or in any different case your wellbeing care expert and nurses could have you ever lay on your left edge so as that the newborn gets greater oxygen. yet surely this is while the newborn is in misery. Sleep the way which you hit upon maximum gentle and enjoy your being pregnant. there is a lot incorrect suggestions accessible and anybody is better than keen to furnish unsolicited suggestion, despite in the event that they advise nicely. If this truly problems you call your physicians nurse and communicate over with them approximately it. through ways there's no longer something incorrect with slumbering on your abdomen in case you hit upon that gentle. the newborn is surrounded through fluid and you could not harm the newborn through slumbering that way. commonly ladies locate it very uncomfortable yet that grew to become into the only way I slept whilst i grew to become into pregnant.

it is not a good position in that it inhibits good circulation to your lower extremeties because of the pressure of your growing fetus on you spine. try lots of pillows to get comfy on your sides. a body pillow did wonders for me:) hope you find a healthy position to sleep that is safe and works for you!

You will find that it is difficult to breathe sleeping on your back. You could try sleeping in a recliner half reclined.
