ups- decent pay, good job market opportunity's ( hospital, clinics, private offices, travel work). you can branch into specializations like the person above me stated.

Downs- have to work around radiation. You never know who you are going to have to deal with ( some patients can be nasty ).

A note about the ultrasound field though, you dont have to be an RT to go into ultrasound. So if you like ultrasound then go for it, ( it pays a Little better right now) the future potential for that modality it very good.
oh yeah and mammo is not an option for some of us. ) that's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

It is grueling work in the sense it is very repititious as is lab techs. However, once you get your RT you can continue education to become a CAT scan tech, Radiation Tech, Nuclear Tech, MRI Tech- pays much more, more brain work than brawn --- and I hope you're good in physics because unfortunately there is a lot of physics courses to master. The pay is really good as you specialize- just like anyother field- bottom man, bottom pay, as you increase your specialization- the more you make- oh, you also can become and ultrasound tech- very interesting and rewarding and a mammography tech. Good luck to you---
