I recently answered this question...here it is again...all you need to know:
There are TWO kinds of twins...identical..and non identical
IDENTICAL....one egg/one sperm...divides into two quite early on and you end up with two babies the same (like clones, same sex, same DNA) There is an average chance of this happening to anyone in any family
NON- IDENTICAL....two eggs/two sperm...happens because the female is dropping more than one egg at time (two different babies, may be the same sex or not, have different DNA) This can run in families. I guess you can inherit the tendency to drop more eggs, and it increases the chances of more than one getting fertilized.
So if the type of twins in your family are non-identical...then yes...you do have a higher chance of having twins yourself

As already stated, it depends on the type of twins that run in the family. Twins do tend to skip a generation, but not always. With that rule, someone in my generation should have been a twin.
What does being overweight have to do with having 2 eggs fertilized?????

Possibly, since it skipped you, the next generation (your babies) have a higher chance, but it's something you can't sit and worry about. Even with your chances, it's still more likely that you will have just one at a time. And I know twins sound scary now, but once you get pregnant and if you find out it's twins, I guarantee you you'll get excited. They are very special...

It's a possiblilty, twins skip a generation. However, my mom is a twin, my husband is a twin and I have uncles who are twins, This is my first pregnancy, I'm not having twins. I wish I were though.
Good luck to you.

It's no guarantee. I've heard it skips a generation so if your mom is a twin...you'd have twin grandchildren instead of twin children.
But really, you never know until you get there.

It is a possibilty that should you become pregnant that it could be twins. Just accept what you get regardless.

the most common indicators are family history (on the mothers side), race (african-american are most likely, asian are least), being overweight, environmental factors, and fertility treatments. I hope you're thin and chinese!!!
