YES - because you know where you are going - you see familiar landmarks - you don't need the map - and most importantly - you know where the speed cameras are.

If you are travelling by plane, it certain seems to be quicker since you are just a passenger, and of course you are supossed to be exhaust by working or partying during your trip, so most of the people sleeps during the flight, while they are excited and awake when starting the trip.

In the other hand, if you are travelling by road and you are driving, the experience shuold be completly opposite. When going back home, you are also tired but you cannot sleep, so you feel home far far away.

Just yesterday I had to drive 9 hours back home after New Years celebration and you may imagine how anxious I was to finally arrive.

Normally yes... as rightly answered by so many, for the reason they have mentioned... coming back is after a tiring journey and a thought of return to monotony after a nice time away...

But it need not always be that way... in case you have a better interest at home... a loved one left at home, an emergency trip back... etc

It is all the play of mind's interest and lack of it.. that's all!

Not always. Sometimes the trip back home is longer. I think it depends on what you have to look forward to when you get to your destination.

TOTALLY!! I think that it's because you were really expecting to get to that place, so the wait gets longer, and when you're coming back home, you have nothing to look forward to.

Plus, after the trip, you're so tired that you fall asleep all the way home, so that makes it quicker too!

Yes for some very odd reason, I've even timed it before, its like going down a staircase with 7 steps, and going back up 6.
