Two ideas:
Hypothesize why snowflakes are unique, yet all have six and only six sides. Read Kepler's "Why the Snowflake is six-sided". Examine the idea of "close-packing" -- beehives (honeycomb is six-sided), modern packing / cargo shipping / transportation. Expand this to the idea of the five Platonic solids -- what does this say about how our Universe works?
Or, since "global warming" seems to be on people's minds -- why not seek out the truth about what is the biggest producer of carbon monoxide??? Man?? (I don't THINK so....) Volcanoes?? -- they put out tons of materials into the atmosphere. The oceans? -- Again, they emit alot of gases into the environment. Bessie the Cow? Well, NOW you're onto something... those bovines emit....METHANE and other gases that contribute to the "greenhouse effect". Or, on a larger scale, how about the naturally occurring cycles on the astronomical scales? What causes Ice Ages?

My favorite is a "Wave Bottle". Its very easy. All you need is a 2 liter bottle, food coloring of your choice, Water and Baby Oil.
First you put Water up to the little line of the 2 ltr., somewhere around where the label ends. Next, you place your food coloring. lastly, fill the rest with Baby oil. Close the lid tight, and shake it around, its cool. It's Better than the old fasioned Two bottle's connected together.
You can explain Mixtures/solutions, or Waves.

In my school the winner did "Which is stronger - Bounty or a generic brand?" She wet the paper towels and added a penny every 5 seconds and counted to see which one could hold more, and Bounty won..

Man i beta get best answer for this one , catch a fly ... then drown it in front of your peers... L@@k at there expressions on there face and say " I never knew flies were so loved" , lol .... get them to come close and witness its death , and ask if they agree its dead , once you have your answer tell them "Well we've been Friends for a long time and i want him to live"... so Pour salt on it and watch how they will be amazed at it coming back to life
