Yes, lots of currency exchange places. Banks may or may not want to do it for you. I recommend just taking money out of the ATM though.
A lot of places will take USD but they're not likely to give you a good exchange rate. Hotels maybe, but not stores and restaurants.

All banks will exchange currency for you, but of course banks are only open during limited hours.
There are exchange houses all over the downtown core of Montreal, particularly on Ste. Catherine street between Peel and Crescent.
However, pretty much all ATMs will accept your american debit or credit card, so you can just take out Canadian money from your bank account rather than wasting time exchanging your american dollars. You will also get the absolute best exchange rate this way.
I never exchange money when I travel anymore (unless I'm travelling to a developing country); I just get cash from my home bank account from a local ATM.

Most places in Montreal will accept US Dollars...but you can pretty much walk into any bank branch such as Royal Bank, Bank of Montreal or TD Canada Trust and exchange your currency. I am sure you can just as easily do it in the USA.

I know a bank named EverBank that handles all kinds of transactions like this. It's headquartered in Jacksonville, FL. They allow you to open an account online, manage your entire account online as well as deposit funds at "deposit-taking ATM" machines that are scattered across the US.
I know that putting your trust in an online banking system may leave you skeptical, but EverBank has an excellent reputation winning many awards from Forbes, etc. and has upwards of 3.6 Billion dollars in assets. You can search for a deposit taking ATM that is near you.
Lastly, I am not affiliated with this bank, but I trade currencies and found this information on a forex knowledgebase/trading site and opened an account with them. Hope this helps!
