Action/Shooter: Gears of War
Action/Military: Call of Duty 2-3, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six:
Best Action Overall: Dead Rising. The sheer amount of things to do and visceral fun more than justifies its pricetag.

if action, you mean shooting, try gears of war. it's much like halo & more because a melee button was replaced with a chainsaw on your weapon, & the graphics look so nice.

rainbow six vegas or gears of war is pretty cool
