It is real in that everything happened. They pick people who are likely to either hook up or fight. Then they give them lots of alcohol. I was pretty dramtic at that age too! Of course editing helps. And they are encouraged during confessionals, constantly reminded like "How do you feel about Roommate puking in your bed or eating you leftover pizza?"

I don't know if they get paid for their origianl season, but they definitely get a salary/stipend for competing on the Battle Seasons. And being on MTV means they can get paid for appearances for as long as they milk it. Colleges bring them to share, clubs give them a small fee to show up, etc, etc.

I think it real to a certain point. The producers egg people on and get them to say or act in a way that they might not normally but isn't that what some of our friends do when they gossip to us. I know that alcohol is around constantly because it creates better drama and a lot of things are cut out. In the Real World when you are seeing the "confessionals" you may notice that sometimes the person looks totally different then they did that day. That's because the confessionals are sometimes tape after the show is filmed.

I think the show is real. Their is this one guy on the show in 2004 i think, the gay hispanic dude. Well he was a actor on a kids show that came on t.v. called ghost writer back in like 1989 and i watched it all the time when i was little. After the reunion i havent seen him again on any challenges or anything but i remember his face. He never denied being a actor on the real world either so i personally think its real. I think the women are just that skanky and the guys are just that masculine and in tune with themself.

The producers give you a script but I think a lot of crap gets added by the crazy cast.

you cant be serious. eventhough they say it is reality tv, the producers and the network still tell you what to say and do. the real world is nothing but story lines, just like soapoperas.

i actually saw the making of these reality shows... its basically a bunch of crap.. honestly... they ARE told what to do.. and to start drama.. and if they don't.. no worries.. the editing room does all the work... so.. i'm sorry to tell you.. its not as real as it seems!
