Why?

Yes, I hate my job but I am damn good at it. I am doing it until my teaching certification runs out because teaching stinks. But, I do need the money. Why am I even asking this b/c I know I should work. I like to see how devilishly cruel people can be on yahoo answers.

Thanks to those of you who arent answering this question like you are some kind of saint. Everyone wants to stay home from work occassionally, no matter how important your job is.

I'd work because it's always good to have a formidable work reputation. Having great attendance(even if it's only for a temporary job) never hurts. They may like you so much, that you may even get a permenant job down the road.

My older sister is a teacher and hates her job. She likes the money and the fact that she gets to travel a lot when schools are on their various holiday breaks. If she had it to do over again, I doubt she would have chosen this profession.
Being a teacher today is not just about teaching how to "read and write". It's about just teaching a child how to act in a classroom setting amongst other human beings. You are not just a teacher anymore, you are the parent away from home...their home.
I give you credit just to get up every morning to go to a job you don't like, credit for handling kids in today's society entangled with so many diversified cultures. I give you an "A+" for trying to better a child's education and morals.
Take the day off, and bring the student a note from home that you were out ill.

I am a dedicated educator of 27 years. My advice is quit now. Young people need people like you like thay need a hole in the head. A substitute teacher is not a babysitter, but a qualified person who is in the process of getting a teaching credential or maybe needs to have a more flexible schedule. The teacher expects the substitute to take care of the students and teach the lesson with professionalism. Stay home and go out to find another job.

Well on the logical side there are questions to ask.. do you hope to work full time for the school you are subbing for... if so i would not stay home and sleep late... on the other hand if have no real aspirations to be a full time teacher.. do what you want stay home..

Do you need the money? Are there other people that can fill in for you?

Bottom line, did you already make the commitment to work tomorrow???? If so, you're obligated to go. If you're not doing it for youself, do it for the children.

Most states are in dire need of good subs right now, could you be one of those good ones???

See, I dont appreciate substitute teachers like you. I know you are human just like the rest of us..but it doesnt really make you look so good as a sub. I would like to see more teachers and subs who LIKE their jobs...not on Yahoo Answers asking complete strangers if they should go to work "or stay home and sleep late"....pff

Work. If you are only a sub then that means you don't have the steady income. This is the time of year you can rake it in. Holidays, flu season. Get it while you can. You'll probably have all summer for sleeping late.

you should go to work tommorow because one it sets a bad example for the students if the teacher even if its a sub doesnt want to show up for school and second because since subs dont make as much money as full time teachers not that they make enough as is youll need the work but mainly because of number one

Stay at home and sleep late. You need your rest and school will go on with or without you. It's going to be cold in the morning.

If you need to do that to cope with your life then you have other problems. Perhaps you're in the wrong career, or you are depressed or you have health issues. Get to the bottom of the problem so you can be enthusiastic and find meaning in your day-to-day life.
