This is a metaphysical question. Thought can occur in the mind, and the mind, and it is not necessarily a physical event (...wow).

There is no conclusive evidence that thoughts are physical, in fact there was a big article about it in us news magazine recently.

If you consider your mind to be something other that physical, then it is possible. if you consider your mind to be something physical, then no, because the speed of light is theoretically the fastest speed any physical object can reach.

Additionaly: Though speed can't be compared to the speed of light, since thoughts aren't a measure of distance over time.

We might count the number of synapses, guess their speed of operation, and determine synapse operations per second. There are roughly 10^15 synapses operating at about 10 impulses/second, giving roughly 10^16 synapse operations per second.

Actually this is a good question!

One idea may be a theory in quantum physics called entanglement. Basically this theory states that quantum particles could be entangled with other particles in the universe such that when the original particle changes a property, all of the other entangled particles make the same change instantly regardless of distance.

There is also physiological evidence that the mind may actually reacting to future events (experiments done on conscious patients undergoing brain surgery) suggesting that time travel is possible.

If either of these ideas can be verified, then the whole concept of time and space will be radically altered.

Your question is going in 2 different directions.
To think of something 10 years ago and comparing it to some current event has nothing to do with traveling at light seed.
In reference to travel, mental thought is faster than lightspeed.
If you have an active imagination and reading a book like an episode of Star Trek where the crew is exploring a new planet, your mind can transport you there instantly as you read and the mind will see what the book describes. At lightspeed, you'll finish several books before your body gets there.

Maybe not faster, but more like just as fast. Because, the way our brain functions, electric signals are sent to and from the brain whenever thoughts occur (which is basically all the time, even when we're asleep) and these signals are VERY fast.

Hi. Assuming a chemical hologram is the source of connecting memories, no. The thoughts are transmitted at chemical speed, much slower than 'c'.

speed of light is 3.0x10x8 therefore thoughts are slower than the speed of light

no, because thoughts are physical events in a brain.

chemical/electrical events.

Because we humans are faster than we thought we were.
