Yeah right, look at these lyrics

"We gotta start makin' changes
learn to see me as a brother instead of to distant strangers
and that's how it's supposed to be
How can the Devil take a brother if he's close to me?
I'd love to go back to when we played as kids
but things changed, and that's the way it is"

and

"And still I see no changes can't a brother get a little peace
It's war on the streets & the war in the Middle East
Instead of war on poverty they got a war on drugs
so the police can bother me
And I ain't never did a crime I ain't have to do
But now I'm back with the facts givin' it back to you"

From the song "Changes" by Tupac Shakur (a rapper)

This question is for everyone who thinks rap is meaningless, I hope you open up your mind and broaden your scope.

I can appreciate all types of music and I agree with you that rap is music and many rappers are creative. Music is poetry and I don't see any better example of poetry than is found in many rap lyrics. Remember though, people do have personal preferences. Not everyone likes country, tejano, or christian rock, but there are those out there who appreciate it.

Ok, the lyrics may be there. But's that just one song. Rap is still crap. My question to you is, where's the MUSIC? Rappers borrow samples from everybody else, but do not create there own music. When is the last time you seen a rapper pick up a guitar? Right now, all that seems important is who can have the best bass thump.

I am certainly not a fan of rap music, but I can say that there are some rappers out there that put out very positive and inspiring music. Through their lyrics, musical artists such as Common, Mos Def, Arrested Development, and DeLaSoul--just to name a few--have definitely inspired me in many ways and have expanded my mind on various important issues.

I must say, however, that I find gangster rappers--or what I personally like to call socially irresponsible rappers--like 50-Cent, Mike Jones, Petey Pablo, as well as many others quite repulsive. In my opinion, their lyrics mean nothing, their videos show nothing positive, and their messages, as a whole, are pure filth and poisonous. I know my opinions seem quite harsh, but it's the way I feel....

I can't say Rap Artist aren't creative. But I don't see Rap as music. It's just usually somebody very loud, spitting out hostile or filthy words, and most of it sounds alike. I get nothing from it, except an urge to change stations. Ya know what I'm saying? I like music that makes me feel good, and R & B, Rock, Reggae, Blues, Pop, and Latin do it for me. Is my scope broad enought?

Rap is not at all music!
It is Rhyming to a bad beat. and Most so called rappers just promote "Bling" and getting money and advertise without getting paid for telling people they own a Benz...
Oh and how many GANG rivals are related to this and I believe the crime rate has rose because of it. and not to metion the Rap Star Killings that have happend.

some music is merely for entertainment - not all of it has to have deep meaning. Rap, like different kinds of music, is now and back deep and now and back shallow. the actual situation with rap is a loss of creativity whilst it is composed of music movies. I have been given bored seeing metallic band after metallic band in the 80's recycling the comparable video formulation: the band wearing leather-based pants attempting to look cool and chicks wearing next to not something. maximum rap movies stick to an virtually surprising formulation, the only difference is the artist are wearing huge chains and the chicks...nicely, they're nevertheless wearing next to not something. human beings hear what they see. If all they see are distinct movies of precisely the comparable element (men attempting to look cool and chicks wearing next to not something), it is not significant what the content textile of the song is - it is going to are available the time of as shallow and meaningless, no remember the type.

i like rap music but now it's not what it used to be anymore.now it's about commercial things.girls, cars, money. if you want to listen to a real rapper then go to chicago and look up common, lupe fiasco, rappers who rap about real things. or you can look up jay-z's lyrics for his song "lost ones".rap music isn't everything people think of it.
