If you have had an early achiever, then it doesn't seem so strange. Both of my kids were early birds, so I see nothing unusual. My oldest cut her first tooth at 2 1/2 months. Yeah, the pediatrician told me I was crazy when I took her in at two months and told her that my child was acting like her gums were sore. She stopped correcting me when both of mine had started crawling by 5 months. She witnessed some things herself like my youngest getting up on her hands and knees at 8 weeks.

Each child is different. They will do some things very early and be normal or even late doing others.

Just enjoy your child and let him move at his own pace.

Yep my baby did this from the day we brought her home. She would flip over to her side as soon as I put her on her back. They will eventually lose that once they gain more weight. When they are that small their heads are so much bigger and heavier then there tiny bodies so its much easier for them to do. Although she has lost that she still holds her head up pretty good on her own. Her cord fell off 5 days after she was born so we decided to try tummy time and she held her head up right away. She has always been a stong baby.

our son was rolling over when we brought him home from the hospital. We have never been able to keep him on his back and he is now 6 months old. He also held his head up a birth and at 2 months was actually weight bearing ( holding his body weight up) on his legs. his doctor saw this and was amused and said most babies don't do that till they are at least 4 months, so every baby develops differently.

My first child was strong like that.

He didnt need his head supported from birth. By 8 weeks old he would insist on standing when on your lap. By 7-8 months old he would literaly climb up off the ground a peek over the baby gate. By 9 months he started running everywhere. When he was 3 yrs old he could scale a 5 ft fence....ect ect. Hes 15 now, thank God we both made it out alive....those kind of kids are exhausting

My second child was more typical...sleep, nurse...not so strong and rigid...I thought something was wrong with him, until my doctor told me that most newborns are like that....and that my first one was just extra active...LOL

Good luck!

My baby from right out of the womb could hold her head up with her neck. I was surprised, since I had never seen a baby able to do that. She also rolled over herself rather young. But it was not an all the time occurance.

I just wanted to say that even if he seems to prefer to sleep on his side be sure to ALWAYS place him on his back to sleep. It SIGNIFICANTLY reduces the risk of SIDS.

My son was also very strong at a very young age, maybe not quite as much as your baby however! Congrats!

Interestingly enough, humans are the only living beings that place our babies on their backs! Your baby is very strong. Be sure and let him exercise his muscles by keeping him on his belly! Its not unusual to have an eager strong infant. :) Be sure and have fun with your little One. They are amazing, aren't they?

When my 2 yr old held his head straight up the day he was born. My mother wittnessed him holding his head because she was the one holding him when he did it.
