If the world was to end, how do you think it would happen?

We'll probably doom ourselves off before that planet killing asteroid hits us, before the consequences of global warming are in full swing, before the super volcanoes erupts and surely before our sun supernovas.

The detonation of tens of thousands of nuclear weapons that now sit quietly, inconspicuously, in missile silos, submarines and long-range bombers, faithful servants awaiting orders would bring the end of the human species.

The World Health Organization concludes that 1.1 billion people would be killed outright in such a nuclear war, mainly in the US, Russia, Europe, China and Japan. An additional 1.1 billion people would suffer serious injurles and radiation sickness. This would represent by far the greatest disaster in the history of the human species and, with no other adverse effects, would probably be enough to reduce at least the Northern Hemisphere to a state of prolonged agony and barbarism.

The nuclear winter that Carl Sagan spoke about would eventually spread to the Southern Hemisphere, killing all plant and animal life, and eventually mankind.

I'll tell you EXACTLY how it will look, and I will back it up with references from the most reliable source in the universe: the Holy Bible.

1. There will be an increasing amount of seizmic activity, violence, until it reaches a point where it is unprecedented, never before reached in history.

2. Most Christians who survive through this will harden their hearts towards God.... they will turn their back from Him, wondering "GOD WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?!" they will walk away thinking He is a mean, unfair God. This is called the GREAT APOSTACY, or the GREAT FALLING AWAY. When they want nothing to do with Jesus, they will notice this man (#3)

3. Out of that will rise a man more powerful than Adolf Hitler. He will have greater influence, wealth, and more control. He will create a false peace with Israel and the middle east countries. There will be a confederation that will support him and give him power.

4. After the first 3 1/2 years of false peace, he will declare himself as God, and demand world-wide worship. All those who refuse to worship him, he will SYSTEMATICALLY ANNIHILATE. This will continue to happen, world-wide for 3 1/2 years. He will annihilate the Jewish race and Christians, and will appear to have victory, until...

5. Jesus Christ Himself, as a man, splits the skies in half, comes with the armies of Heaven, and the saints of Christ are suspended in mid-air while the armies of earth are surrounding Jerusalem to destroy the reminant of the people left while at the same time Christ gathers His elect, touches the ground in Jerusalem, and slays everyone who is opposing Him. From there on He will establish His theocratic rule and His government will expand and increase for a period of 1,000 years while it remains on the earth.

Seriously, since you didn't say humanity, I'd suggest a rip in the space-time continuum that allows a multitude of other earths from other dimensions to converge on the same plane. Since they will be out of phase, the anti-matter build-up will suffice to sever the sub-atomic bonds that hold the physicality of our matter together. We (and the earth we stand on) would simply vaporize into the emptiness of space in a nano-second.

What would cause the rip in the fabric in the first place? 1 billion people all jumping off a chair in 10,000,000 different dimensions at the same time.

I think you've got to clarify the word 'world'. See here. If North Korea or some nation with heaps of nuclear warheads, or say America, for instance, decided to go provoke WWIII, we'll be wiped out from the face of this earth. The likelihood of life existing after that is extremely low, given that all humans have died. Then the 'human' world or the 'human perception' of the world, is no longer.

I agree with Eva, I think the world with end with some sort of virus or superbug that will annihilate us all; something that could also kill animals and plant life. It would most likely be air born thus spreading quickly. The meek shall inheret the earth is what the bible says; what is more meek than a single cell organism?

It doesn't end in one apocalyptic event, its a slow process. Conflicts erupt among the nations and the world becomes divided, each side continuously attacking the other with violent acts of terrorism. Overcrowding of the planet and diminished resources force the war to end due to lack of funding and again, resources, and people to keep it going. The majority of the world is left to live in poverty and unsanitary conditions, diseases spread and mutate to even more terrible forms, there is a global plague that lasts for fifty years. The remaining population are left to live in a desolate,unclean wasteland and die due to radiation exposure left over from the wars and from starvation and killing each other off in competition for the few remaining resources. Everyone will die due to drastic climatic changes and atmospheric polution in the end, and humanity and all life on earth will cease to exist for 50,000 years

I think it would happen through disease. Everyone would get sick from something and die. I am sure that there are three more ways that it could end but one way is enough to satisfy me.

I don't think it is going to end anytime soon, but when it does I think people will kill us with their knowedge of technology and lack of the human race.
