Yes, absolutely you can still nurse while taking sudafed. The dose is very low and won't have a major affect on your baby. As far as you having a cold, well your body is producing antibodies to fight off your sickness which helps your baby be immune to you. Keep breastfeeding your child. If not you can definetly get her/him sick.

Absolutly continue breastfeeding! It's the best thing you could do for your child.Make sure to check with a dr. or even your local pharmesist about meds while breastbeeding, but I know I breastfead for 15 months with my daughter and I was sick all the time due to stess and the antibodies actually helped my daughter to not catch what I had. It's a marvelous thing, nature is! I took sudafed while I nursed,I actually lived by it...also tylenol cold products and all kinds of teas!!!! If you go to the dr. for antibiotics just let him know you are nursing and he'll help you get the best meds for you and baby! And keep up the good work, breastfeading your child is most definitly the best policy.

Yes, you can breastfeed if you have a cold - the antibodies will help keep your baby from getting it. Otherwise, your baby will probably catch your cold.

But ask your dr about the sudafed, I'm not sure if that is ok to use if you are nursing.

Your cold will not make your baby sick through your breast milk, though he or she may catch it from you through the air or from touch, just like older people catch colds. As far as Sudafed goes, I would check with your doctor, but when I was pregnant, that was the only med. my doctor allowed me to take for a cold. Feel better soon!

You should breastfeed now, especially now that you are sick. Your breastmilk will have TONS of antibodies that fight that illness in it, and when your baby drinks it, she will build an immunity to your illness and many others.

KEEP ON TRUCKIN!! And I commend you for breastfeeding, it's the best gift you could give your baby!

Breastfeeding is best- even if you are ill. Your baby won't catch your cold just because you are breastfeeding him/her. Breastfeeding actually prevents illnesses. There are live antibodies in breastmilk that help build a babies immune system. So keep on a nursin' and kudos for breastfeeding!!!

Since you are breastfeeding you should talk to your doctoe first before taking any medications. He or she can tell you what's the best medicine for you to take that will not harm the baby.
